Sometimes a job is exactly what it looks like on paper. And sometimes you're a few inches into the ground and realize you've got a whole different situation on your hands. That's exactly what happened here - what started as a straightforward tree planting job turned into a full boulder extraction once we hit solid rock just below the surface.
This is one of those things homeowners don't always think about until it's too late. Underground obstructions - boulders, buried debris, old tree roots - can stop a project cold if you don't have the equipment or experience to deal with them. A crew without the right gear would've been stuck. We weren't.
We brought in the heavy equipment to get that boulder lifted and moved. That's not a small rock - it's a massive chunk of solid stone that had no business sitting under a planting site. Getting it out cleanly without tearing up the surrounding lawn took a combination of machine work and hands-on digging. Both matter. We also want to give a shoutout to Stone Depot for the assist on this one - good partners make tough jobs go a lot smoother.
This is what real excavation and dirt work looks like. It's not always clean and predictable. Subsurface conditions can change everything, and the only way to handle that well is to show up prepared - with the right equipment, the right people, and the flexibility to adapt when the ground has other plans.
Tough sites don't scare us off. Whether it's grading, excavation, or something that surprises everyone once the digging starts, we've got the experience to work through it and get the job done right.
